Group Running Schedule

legs The group meets three days a week and leaves the Queen's Park band shell at the following times:
  • Tuesday..... 7:00PM
  • Thursday.... 7:00PM
  • Sunday....... 8:00AM (long run)
  • Informal hill training sessions are held Wednesdays depending on interest.



Tuesday is our most popular run night, so it's a great night to come out for your first run with the group if you're not used to running for an hour. Our weeknight runs are about 45 to 60 minutes and are typically 7 to 10km or longer for the faster runners in the group.

Sunday runs are generally somewhat longer than weeknight runs, however, there is a wide variety of definitions on how much longer, and the pace is generally slower. A typical Sunday run is about 90 minutes, although there is usually some negotiation between people looking for someone to run shorter or longer. Some may be following a marathon training schedule and will run longer.

Walkers:

Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday walks are each approximately one hour. If there is a race or other walking event coming up, the Sunday walks will be extended to train for the upcoming distance.



Race Training Schedule:

Typically, we train for two Marathons (Vancouver/Penticton and Victoria/Kelowna) and three 1/2 Marathons (Vancouver International/Penticton, Kelowna and 1st half) each year. While we generally only make up a schedule for these, many members run a variety of other races (anywhere from 5k to ultras). Occasionally we'll make up a schedule for another race if there's enough interest. Less than half the group is training for a particular race, so there's always a group running lower mileage on Sunday.
